Welcome to/ Croeso i Dosbarth Sycamore!
We are a mixed Year 3 and 4 class in Cwmbach Church in Wales Primary School.
Staff:
Class teacher: Mr I Evans
Teaching assistant: Miss A Morris
Our Learning
Our overarching theme for the whole school is "Food Glorious Food".
Dosbarth Sycamore's big question is:
"Where in the world does food come from?"
Blended learning
We have multiple ways to keep up with what is going on each week in Dosbarth Sycamore.
Photos and class information/ announcements are shared on Dojo.
The school's weekly newsletter is also posted each Friday, filled with information and important dates. It is worth checking Dojo regularly to ensure you don't miss any information shared.
Dojo is also a good way to communicate with the class teacher.
Children have their own log in for Spelling Shed and Times Tables Rock Stars. If they need a new login, please contact a class teacher.
Monster Phonics is the phonics scheme we follow in school. Please sign your child up for an e-book account following the link shared on Dojo.

Our Value

Numeracy
We have recently started using Big Maths as a mental Maths scheme. During these sessions children work on things such as their quick recall of times tables, number bonds and fact families. They complete a CLIC test every Friday and love challenging themselves to beat their last score.
Dosbarth Sycamore also enjoy spending time practicing the skills they have been taught on websites such as Top marks and Times Table Rock Stars. Both are linked below if your child would like to go on these at home!
Literacy
All children have a reading book from the school to bring home each week and practice. Reading books are changed on a Friday, ready to be taken home for the weekend. Every child needs to bring their reading book and reading record to school each Friday to read with a teacher and have their book changed.
Reading with your child is essential for their development. This could be reading stories to them as well as your child reading to you. Please use the reading record supplied to note how your child has done with their reading and if they found any words tricky.
Children are also learning to spell the first 100 High Frequency Words. These 100 words are a key tool to ensure children can complete literacy work in class independently and without struggle. Children will be tested on their spelling list each Wednesday so please practice these at home. Children can also practice their spellings on Spelling Shed, an app that uses their individual spelling targets and creates games to learn them!
