The Global Gang and Miss Davies are committed to working hard again this year to achieve the next Eco school award, and have lots planned to help the community and look at ways to reduce the schools carbon footprint.
As a group 2024/25 was a successful school year. Along with The Worship Squad they planned and created a biodiversity area within the school grounds complete with a fully functional "Bug Hotel" and "No Mow Area" Our biodiversity area will help children explore how living things depend on each other in the ecosystem. They’ll discover which mini beasts have made our school their home, learn how to care for them, and understand why bees are important for plants, food, and the planet. By helping to attract more bees, the children will be making a real difference to nature!
This year Global Gang have hit the ground running, they've displayed the Global Gang logo on all light switches around school to encourage the staff, pupils and visitors to reduce the schools carbon footprint, by turning off lights, power sources etc. They have also successfully launched a whole school "Keep our Community tidy" poster competition to encourage the community to stop littering. With the support of The Cwmbach Community Association and Trivallis, the winning designs will be proudly showcased on banners and durable metal signs placed on lampposts throughout our community, helping to spread the message and creativity of our pupils far and wide.
A huge well done to all of you for achieving both the Bronze and Silver Eco‑Schools Awards! Your hard work, and commitment to protecting our planet have truly made a difference in our school. You’ve shown fantastic teamwork, and a real determination to make our school greener, cleaner, and more sustainable. From reducing waste to encouraging biodiversity, you have been true eco‑champions. We are incredibly proud of everything you’ve achieved so far and this is only the beginning. Keep leading the way to a brighter, greener future.
Next step our first ECO Green flag,
Congratulations, Global Gang you’ve earned it.
Pupils at Cwmbach Church in Wales Primary School are proud to be taking part in the Woodland Trust’s Our Green Tree Schools Award. This exciting initiative encourages outdoor learning and inspires children to develop a deeper understanding of trees, woods and wildlife. Through a range of fun, practical projects, our pupils have been actively helping the environment while enhancing our school grounds.
We are delighted to share that we have already achieved our Bronze, Silver and Gold awards, recognising the hard work, enthusiasm and commitment of our learners. As part of the programme, pupils have also earned certificates to celebrate their achievements, and we look forward to proudly displaying our special plaque within the school community.
Some of our Global Gang members have taken on the role of “Bright Sparks”, placing reminder logos near light switches throughout the school. These prompts encourage pupils, staff, and visitors to switch off lights and reduce energy use. Well done to all involved for demonstrating responsibility and making a positive contribution to sustainability within our school.
🌍 Earth Day 2026 – Pupil Voice in Action 🌱
To celebrate Earth Day 2026, our Global Gang proudly led a whole‑school assembly, helping everyone to learn more about why it is important to look after our planet. They spoke confidently about protecting the Earth and shared simple actions we can all take to make a difference.
After the assembly, pupils across the school took part in Earth Day activities in their classes. One of the highlights was making seed balls for the bees, helping to support wildlife and encourage more plants and flowers to grow in our local environment.
It was a fantastic day of learning, teamwork and action, showing how pupil voice can help lead positive change for our planet. 🌎💚
The Global Gang, have been working hard on an exciting project building a brand‑new "Bug Hotel" for our bio diversity area. They used lots of natural materials like sticks, bricks, pine cones and leaves, they created cosy spaces for insects to shelter and stay safe. They showed great teamwork and problem solving as they designed each section, thinking carefully about which mini‑beasts might move in. This project is part of their mission to make our school greener, wilder and more eco‑friendly.
This is the start of our bio diversity area developments, we’re working with Keep Wales Tidy to create something vey special on our school grounds.
Well done to The Global Gang, helping nature, one tiny creature at a time!
We made an exciting start on bringing our school grounds to life by planting wildflower seeds. We were inspired by the story Mia Makes a Meadow, which showed us how even small actions can help nature grow.
We carefully scattered the seeds, just like Mia did in the story, and talked about how wildflowers help bees, butterflies and other insects. We are proud of the part we played and look forward to seeing how our meadow grows and changes over time.
We are helping our school become a happier home for wildlife! 🐝🌸
