We have achieved our Siarter Iaith Bronze Award!

We are working on our Cymraeg Campus –
Siarter iaith Silver award.

What is the Siarter iaith  award?

The Siarter Iaith, is a project introduced by the Welsh Assembly to all schools in Wales, to promote the Welsh language, to develop a Welsh ethos and encourage pupils to improve their Welsh language skills. The Charter provides a framework for schools to follow in order to achieve the awards.

There are 9 targets that we have to achieve to be able to get the award.

  • 1. A visual Welsh Ethos.

  • 2. The advantages of learning Welsh.

  • 3. The use of Welsh inside the classroom.

  • 4. The use of Welsh outside of the classroom.

  • 5. Welsh in assemblies.

  • 6. Apps and websites to enhance learning.

  • 7. Enrichment activities.

  • 8.Developing reading.

  • 9. Welsh across the curriculum.

Autumn term 2

Our phrase of the week:

Wythnos 1 - Sut wyt ti? How are you?

Wythnos 2 - Sut mae'r tywydd heddiw? - What is the weather like today?

Wythnos 3 - Faint o'r gloch? - What's the time?

Wythnos 5 - Beth wyt ti'n eisiau? - What do you want?

Wythnos 6 - Nadolig Llawen! - Merry Christmas!

On Friday 13th October, we will be celebrating Diwrnod Shwmae Sumae in school. On this day children can wear something Welsh themed, this could be a rugby top, traditional Welsh costume or something red! On this day children will take part in Welsh themed activities in their classes and speak as much Welsh as possible! Encourage your child to teach you a Welsh phrase!

Diolch

The Criw Cymraeg and Mrs Piper

The Criw love teaching children Welsh language yard games and have lots of fun playing them. The Foundation Phase children love playing with the older children.
