Thankfulness
During our value of thankfulness, children enjoyed discussions with peers about all the things they are thankful for. The heart of all our discussions is always being thankful to God our father. Children understand the importance of saying thank you to everyone for the things that they have but that ultimately all things come from God.
We looked at Harvest and said thank you for the crops. We then delivered food collections to the local food bank. We enjoy donating food to the Foodbank and understand how thankful people are.
Children held discussions about when they have had to persevere with something and what it teaches us. They carried out lots of fun activities to practise their perseverance, their favourite was trying to get a biscuit into their mouths from their forehead without touching it. They wrote prayers for our reflection area and asked God to help them persevere when things get tough.
While looking at the value of friendship we have discussed what makes a good friend. We have recognised the qualities involved with being a good friends and have written friendship recipes and created posters to teach the younger pupils how to be a good friend. We made friendship bracelets for our friends to show them how much they mean to us.
